Working Links Group
Carla Price
I came back to volunteer at Ichthus Ceramics because I love the social side of the work. I really get on well with everyone. I am also glad to be back in a routine. I have developed my painting skills and now have confidence to work on really difficult pieces. One of the best things is that I feel that I am giving something back in working for a charity. The people with learning disabilities are good to work with.
Kelly Holloway
Kelly was referred to Crafts For Everyone by Working Links, she has been unemployed for over twelve months and needed to complete a Mandatory Work Related Activity. Kelly completed the course and now volunteers in the pottery.
I did not know what to expect when I came to Crafts For Everyone but I soon got used to the work. I had never done pottery before but found that I enjoyed it, as I like doing close work. I take pride in my work and will work until I am happy with the finish. Since I have worked at Crafts I have learnt new skills and this has given me the confidence to show other people on the programme how to make ceramics. I regularly work alongside people with a learning disability and this has also helped my self confidence.
When the course ended I asked if I could volunteer and I now work 15 hours a week in the pottery. I know that this will help me build my C.V. and help me find work.
Caroline Hughes
I came back to volunteer at Crafts for Everyone because I enjoy the making process. I especially enjoy fettling. Since coming to Ichthus Ceramics I have felt more confident and I have learnt new skills. Another good thing about volunteering is that I know that I am helping a charity. I really like working with people with a learning disability.
